    Swim-A-Cross

    Dear Piranhas,

Wednesday evening practice will be done a little different.  We will be participating in a Swim-a-Cross.  Swim-A-Cross is a fundraiser for the Red Cross water safety and our swim team.  A swim-a-cross is just like a jump rope-a-thon where their swim laps instead of jumping rope.  Those that participate will be receiving a form to get sponsors for the laps that your child will do.  The Red Cross uses their portion of the money raised to pay for water equipment and lessons for those that may not be able to afford it.  The money that we receive will help pay for our normal expenses and keep our registration cost low.  You will be given the number of laps when they are done and given to June 22nd to turn in your money.

During Wednesday's evening practice the swimmers will be allowed to swim for a solid 3 hours between 5 - 8 PM.  The children will be swimming laps as long as they want or as many laps as they want.  The only time they are allowed to leave the water is to use the restroom or they are ready to stop.  They will be allowed to stop at the edge of the pool and take a break.   It is best if the swimmers bring something to drink and leave it by the pool.

We will be needing parents to help count laps.  Please talk to Leslie or myself about volunteering.
