    Practices

    Piranhas,

As coaches seeing only a few swimmers show up to practice when we are having dry land is a little disheartening. Swimming involves three key aspects Technic, Endurance, and Strength. The technic and endurance we obtain during in-water practices by practicing drills for better technic and swimming yards to build endurance. The strength component can only be obtained through dry land exercises. The First and Fourth have been doing dry land or at least told to do dry land before or after their practices. The workouts they do both in the water and out of the water are to help them become better swimmers. Since we are in an outdoor pool and have weather that can cause the pool to close we would like all swimmers to bring dry land clothes to every practice just in case, this includes a shirt, shorts, and tennis shoes. Everything we have the swimmers do is for their benefit and we hope that more will show up on days we have just dry land as well as bring dry land gear each and every day.

The First practice's dry land is either before their in-water practice from 4:30-5:00pm or after from 6:00-6:30pm.

The Fourth practice's dry land is before their in-water practice from 7:00-7:30pm.

We would like both of these groups to show up and do the dry land exercises set out for them. If we want to do well this season and want to do better as a team against other teams and send more swimmers to invitationals we need to push ourselves with a workout that will build on all aspects of swimming.

We will be having practice at the Kieth Harrow pool as normal today doing in-water practice for all groups. We will be having testing for the clinic swimmers today, if you are unable to make it today to clinic we will have them test on Wednesday. We also have Team Pictures this Friday at 5:00pm and Time Trials on Saturday.
