    Year Round Teams and Lessons

    Piranhas,

The Coaches want you all to know how amazing this season was for us and we hope was for you. We look forward to the return of all the swimmers and continuation of new swimmers joining next season. Here is some information about teams that swim year round, swim lessons at different locations both year round and seasonal. For those who know it is not easy to try and get a lot of work done in such a short amount of time during the summer season with stroke technic. Participating in a year round team or swim lesson program helps the swimmers stay in good condition for the summer, they have a better chance at growing their abilities and focus towards technic with the year round programs.

Coach Josh is the Head Coach for the Langham Creek YMCA Stingrays year round team, as well as a swim instructor at the Y. We are a team that practices Monday-Thursday and have swim meets each month. We also have group swim lessons going on at the Y until the end of October and private swim lessons that go year round. We dedicate our time as coaches at the Y to building the technic of all swimmers and we work with kids from 5-21 years of age. Group swim lessons at the Y are seperated by age; the parent/child class is from 2 years-under, the preschool class is from 3-5 years, the youth class is from 6-12 years and the adult class is from 13-older. You can find more information at the YMCAHouston.org website.

There are a lot of other programs around the area that your swimmers could also attend, such as Fleet (Cypress Swim Club, outdoor pool), Team Yes (indoor pool usually a high school in CFISD), Mayde Creek Aquatics (indoor at the Mayde Creek High School) and a few others that are swim teams but also provide swim lessons or boosters to learn the strokes. Then there is also the Houston Swim Club that does swim lesson year round in an indoor pool.

We do understand that not everyone will be able to go to a year round program of some kind, but the more they practice in the pool the better they become. If they are watched by the eyes of a dedicated coach then their strokes will take off. We hope that everyone is having a great rest of the summer and will have an awesome school year. We are counting down the days until the new season is upon us, 2017 will be another great season for Glencairn.

If you have any questions, concerns, or would like more information about other programs that are year round or seasonal please let us know.
