Pool
Piranhas,
I know everyone is frustrated with the way the pool looks and that the swimmers have not been able to get in to work on technique. Many of you may not know that the pool was built in late 1970's or early 1980's. With the age of the pool their are going to be problems. Due to the pandemic the pools were not used. The pools were still maintained during that time. It was not until we started our season that they found some of the issues with the pumps. Another problem, just like the rest of the country, has been a shortage of chemicals. To resolve this issue the HOA has decided to go with liquid chlorine instead of the chlorine tablets.
The word from the pool company is that they would work on it today to get it as clean as they can. The coaches will check the chlorine level each day before practice. It may take a couple of weeks for the repairs to be completed and the pool back to crystal clear water. As long at the chlorine level is between a 1 to 7 and the bottom of the pool is can be seen by the coaches the swimmers will be in the water.
If the pool is not safe for the swimmers to get in the coaches will do dryland. I know that dryland is not the favorite of the swimmers. It is an important part of practice. Swimmers use more of their muscles than in any other sport. One of the ways to keep the muscles in good working condition is to workout. The dryland practices help keep the muscles toned and helps build endurance. It is very important that the swimmers are prepared to do both in water and dryland practices each day. It might not be until the coaches get there that they have to make the decision. They will let everyone know through remind.
Saturday's Meet
Hopefully we will have the meet at our pool. Depending on how it looks tomorrow we will make a decision about either renting Watkins MS or Cy-Lakes HS pool or have the meet at our pool.
We will continue to keep you updated through email and Remind. If you do not have remind, please see one of the coaches or a board member.
Sincerely,
Swim Team Board
