Dear Swim Parent,

I hope everyone is doing great. I am writing to inform you that WE ARE BACK, STRONGER, AND READY TO FEED.

The board is excited to plan a great season. We have 2 new coaches both former swimmers of the Glencairn Swim Team, Fatima Gutierrez will be our head coach and Getsemani (Gigi) Gomez will be the assistant. They are VERY EXCITED to work with your swimmer(s).

We will have registration on March 26^th and April 2^nd from 10 AM – 2 PM at the NEW Glencairn Civic Center. Season will start with the first practices and Swim Clinic on April 11^th and run through the team party on June 30^th. We will be hosting Divisionals at our pool this year.

We have made some changes to the team this season:

1. We will not have volunteer deposit or concessions fees. We have combined them into the fees. We will not be giving back a volunteer deposit at the end of the season. We will be requiring everyone to sign up for a volunteer slot for 2 meets and either the morning or afternoon slot at Divisionals. If you fail to volunteer, there will be a fine of $35 per meet that will be charged.

2. $50 gift card will be given to every parent that officially becomes an official. To run the meets smoothly you need to have around 6 – 10 or more officials both on deck and computer. You will have to take some training classes and take a test. Training will start in April with open book computer test need to be completed by May 1^st. You will also need to go on to the nwal.org site and follow the link to get a background check. Types of officials:

a. Stroke and Turn – stands on each side of the deck and determines is the swimmers are swimming correctly.

b. Starter – Needs to be a Stroke and Turn official first but can be fast tracked. Will be at the start blocks actually starting the races.

c. Referee – Needs to be a Starter first but also can be fast tracked. You will oversee the race, schedule the officials at home meets, and possibly overturn DQs

d. Computer -Will be setting up the meet, making sure coaches have all the entries in for each meet, sign up for Invitational meets, communicating with the other computer person for each team, imputing times the day of the meet.

The more officials we have the smoother the meets will run.

3. Practices will be Monday through Friday for the team and Monday through Thursday for the Swim Clinic. Times will be announced later.

4. Prices for Swimmers:

a. 1^st returning Swimmer - $125

b. 2^nd and all other returning Swimmers - $100

c. Swim Clinic (All new swimmers) $100 per swimmer for 3 weeks of Clinic. Will be required to take a swim test at the end of clinic to be able to join the swim team.
